Fighting to make New York the best workplace in media.

WHO WE ARE

New York Magazine is a New York City institution — a place known for wit, style, daring reporting, savvy commentary, a knack for taste-making, and an ability to tell a story like no one else. As members of the NewsGuild of New York, we represent the more than 130 writers, editors, fact-checkers, copy editors, designers, producers, social media editors, audio producers, and photo editors who do that work every day. We love what we do, and want New York to remain a place where the most talented people in media want to do their best and most interesting work.

We announced the formation of our union in 2018, shortly after New York Magazine’s 50th anniversary, with a goal of making sure this remarkable institution lives up to its values. We hope that Vox Media will work with us to finalize a contract that creates a stronger and more equitable workplace, so that New York remains the most highbrow-brilliant publication in media for the next 50 years.
