WHO WE ARE

New York Magazine is a New York City institution — a place known for wit, style, daring reporting, savvy commentary, a knack for taste-making, and an ability to tell a story like no one else. As members of the NewsGuild of New York, we represent the more than 150 writers, editors, fact-checkers, copy editors, designers, producers, social media editors, audio producers, and photo editors who make this place what it is. We love what we do, and want New York to remain a place where the most talented people in media want to do their best work.

We announced the formation of our union in 2018, shortly after New York Magazine’s 50th anniversary, with a goal of making sure this remarkable institution lives up to its values. We agreed to our first contract with Vox Media in 2022, and in the Spring of 2024 we began working to finalize a new agreement that we hope will make our workplace a stronger and more equitable one, so that New York remains the most highbrow-brilliant publication in media for the next 50 years.
